Pet Laser Therapy

We are proud to announce the addition of a Class IV therapeutic laser that delivers advanced pain relief and enhanced tissue healing to our patients! High energy laser therapy is a painless method of using specific wavelengths to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreased swelling. Therapeutic lasers offer a non-invasive alternative to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories in patients with NSAID intolerance, and to reduce the need of long-term NSAID use which can have undesirable effects. Laser therapy can help with a vast variety of conditions including:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Joint Pain

  • Edema

  • Ligament and Muscle Sprains

  • Puncture Wounds and Post-Traumatic Injuries

  • Neck and Back Pain

  • Pancreatitis

  • Hip Dysplasia

  • Chronic Wounds and Hot Spots

  • Surgical Incisions

Because laser therapy is non-invasive, the experience is usually pleasant and comforting for your pet. Although improvement is often seen after the first visit, most patients require several treatments (3 to 8) for greatest benefit. During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved. Our staff members have been professionally trained to effectively provide laser therapy treatments. We are ready to answer any questions you have about how laser therapy can help your pet’s needs.

Our Laser Therapy Technology

We chose the Platinum 4 by Summus Medical Laser because it is the most innovative and effective Class IV therapeutic laser. High-energy laser therapy with the Platinum 4 safely penetrates deeply into the body to diminish pain and stimulate healing. Many pets suffer from chronic pain due to arthritis caused by hip dysplasia, spondylosis, traumatic injury, etc. Non-steroid anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) provide significant relief from pain, but long-term use of these drugs can have some undesirable effects. In addition, some animals are NSAID-intolerant. Cats are particularly sensitive to some of these medications, so there are fewer pain-management options available for the feline patient. Laser therapy provides a safe solution for them.

Laser therapy has also shown very good results when used on surgical incisions and wounds. Traumatized tissue swells less and heals more quickly when treated with a high-powered therapeutic laser. Treatments last about 2-5 minutes per site and are completely comfortable for the patient.
